タイトルの「栞」は本に挟む栞から由来します。衣桁にかかっている四季を表現したそれぞれの着物の袖が、まるで美しい四季をとどめた栞のように見えるので、このタイトルにしました。ここでもやはり水がそれぞれの季節をつないでいます。
“The title for this work, shiori, comes from the word meaning bookmark, which is sandwiched between the pages of a volume. The sleeves of the draped kimono feature seasonal patterns, and appear like book marks, each one perfectly containing one the four seasons; this is why I chose this title. In this piece, as in others, water is a connecting theme that joins together the seasons.”
